Properties of Silk

  • Silk adjusts to your body's temperature in any climate and wicks moisture away from the body for complete comfort.

  • Silk fiber is naturally hypoallergenic. Dust mites cannot live in silk fabrics, so high temperature washing and drying is not required. Mold and mildew spores are also repelled.

  • Washable silk should be laundered gently in cold water, and if machine dried, tumbled on low until almost dry, removing promptly to avoid the need for ironing. Cool iron can be used if desired. Detergents need to be mild, with no bleach or bleach alternatives, which break down the silk fibers. No fabric softeners should be used, as they prohibit silk's natural properties. Proper treatment will protect the fibers for longer life and enjoyment of your silk item.

  • The best care of silk comforters and blankets is to air naturally for 30 to 40 minutes a few times a year to refresh and restore the silk fiber. Dry cleaning is only advised when necessary.
