Healthy Hair
Cropped or flowing, curly or straight, fine or thick - your hair is a reflection of the inner you. Not in the sense of a spiky personality or bobbed outlook, but rather as an outward measure of your overall health.
Like the rest of your body, healthy hair depends upon a healthy lifestyle. If you're ill, tired, stressed out or eating poorly, your hair is inevitably going to betray you.
Follow these general lifestyle tips to enhance the quality of your hair, which in turn, will keep your body and mind (not to mention spirit!) supple and toned:
1. Feed your follicles a diet rich in whole foods (fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein).
2. Drink at least ten 8-oz. glasses of water each day.
3. Limit your intake of caffeine, saturated fats and processed foods.
4. Don't smoke.
5. Cover up your hair while in the sun.
6. Get eight hours of sleep each night.
7. Exercise at least 30 minutes a day.
Tip: Models are extra careful with their scalps, not just their hair itself. Regular head massages keep the scalp healthy and can prevent dandruff.
