At the end of a day or a period of standing around, your feet can feel sore and tired. Most foot pain results from your muscles becoming imbalanced. Here are some suggestions to relieve your tired feet:

  • Lie face down on your bed in a darkened room with the room temperature at a comfortable level. Put a pillow (head-size or smaller) under the insteps of your feet, so that your feet are supported by the pillow. To relieve foot tension, it's important to keep your feet elevated for at least ten minutes - 1/2 hour is better!

  • Bathe your feet in a small bath of salts with a few drops of essential oil added. Suitable oils include eucalyptus, lavender, orange - anything uplifting and soothing at the same time.

  • While watching TV, reading or any other sitting activity, roll a tennis ball, golf ball or rolling pin under your feet. Do this back and forth. This increases the flexibility in your muscles and joints and is a nice self-massage.

  • Exercise your toes by trying to pick up an object like a pencil or a rolled-up towel with your toes. Do both feet at once if possible.

  • Try a moisturizing foot massage.
