Spring Makeup Ideas

Your wardrobe isn't all you need to change out for the season! Revamp your spring look too with paler shades, light weight (but effective) moisturizers and quick-time, easy to apply makeup.

We've been studying makeup trends and we're seeing lots of light and breezy color combinations - but some interesting intense directions as well.

  • Dior features a flower blossom palette with eyeshadow names like "Spring Bouquet" (plums, pearls, roses and deep purples) and "Pink May" (peaches, lavenders, iris, violets).

  • Chanel is going more towards deep blues, pinks and lilacs with their 4 Fleurs de Chanel collection.

  • MAC has a new spring color collection that includes Sunny Girl (yellow gold), Golden Gold (deep golden bronze) and Trend (neutral tan with gold pearlized pigments).

  • If you're a woman who considers her look timeless, but likes to incorporate a few of the season's hottest trends, take a look at our new line of Kimiko Beauty products - particularly the eyeshadow collections with soft pinks, peach, bamboo and hunter green.

We're excited to introduce this brilliant cosmetics and skincare line that offers clinical skincare fused right into the cosmetics--lip tints that color and plump, concealers that treat and hide, powders that hydrate and firm, eyeshadows that smooth and lift. Look younger in less time!

Here are a few makeup tips for this spring:

  • Pink is always a spring favorite, but if you're looking for romantic and feminine, try the eyeshadow shades of lilac, purple and peach. Use shades that complement your skin and eye color. Look for colors that softly contrast with the shade of your eyes - not colors that match them exactly.
  • Experimenting to find colors that complement you is always the best answer but here are some general guidelines - -

  • Blue Eyes: Choose colors with red undertones. For example, burgundy, wine or plum. Brown with red undertones and green can also look good. Jade is a great shade for blue eyes.

  • Brown Eyes: Try greens, copper, and blues. Sapphire will make eyes pop.

  • Green Eyes: Choose colors with yellow undertones. Golds and plums also look nice. Amethyst can be a great complement.

  • Hazel Eyes: Try greens or neutral colors. Jade and emerald are great choices.

  • Stick with brown or black eyeliner this season.

  • Well-groomed brows - not necessarily thin - are in. Shape them with a good brow kit like Paula Dorf's Perfect Brow Kit.

  • Foundation primers are a must-have this spring, with new formulations coming out every day. We recommend foundation primers to create the perfect canvas for your spring look. We've found Dr. Perricone's Ceramic Skin Smoother to be the best and we'll be carrying these products beginning in April.

  • Save smoky eyes for evening only.

  • Nix the neutral gloss at night; go for the popular cherry reds, dark browns and deep shades of pink.

  • Choose a matte foundation for evening to balance out your eye-catching eye and lip palette.
