Award season successfully kicked off this year with the Golden Globes, and with the Grammys and the Oscars right around the corner, makeup is on high-alert. The new “glass-like” skin look – healthy and hydrated – dominated the red carpet with the very glamorous smokey eye look not far behind. Makeup drama revealed itself in the form of a classic red lip and an array of rose, blush and nude tones playing a cameo role. More is always more on the red carpet but sometimes more is too much for an everyday look, so here’s an adaptation of this awards season’s hottest looks – simple to recreate and perfectly on trend.

Many of Hollywood’s beauties chose a stately smokey eye; guaranteed to turn heads and attract full paparazzi attention. The perfect swipe of metallics on the top lid can add a touch of glamour. Opt for universal shades such as a shimmering bronze, dusty rusts, and soft chocolate browns. The evening theme of gold was a staple this year and this trend will remain strong throughout the summer 2019 – a look perfect for all seasons. Elongated cat-eyes with a touch of evening sparkle and inky black tones along the top and bottom lash-line were also prominent and provided true Hollywood glamour.

Trend Takeaways from the Red Carpet

Lashes: – Full on coats of glossy black mascara layered over faux mink lashes.

Skin trend: – Dewey, clean, and glassy clear.

Luminous glassy skin will be an everyday staple throughout 2019. The days of full coverage makeup are over for now and instead we’re seeing a focus on skin care and a sheer, more natural makeup application. The worldwide obsession with essences, serums, and pre-moisture applications allow the skin to breathe and glow naturally. Skin-care, in every sense of the word is becoming more critical to Americans. Feather weight foundations, BB and CC Creams are dominating the red carpets and making their way down the runways. Skin is glowing, glossy, and gorgeous so don’t forget to blend, blend, blend – along the jawline, down the nose and outward toward the temples. Reinforce the cheeks and chin to conquer any redness. Foundation brushes assist as they “sheer out” your application so make sure your brushes are clean and washed regularly in warm soapy water, rinsed off and laid out flat to dry.

Eye Trend: – Smokey eye and eyeliners will be on trend all year long as harsh eye looks fade into the past.

Opt for soft warm eyeliner tones such as golden bronze, shimmering taupe, and violet and plum shades. Matte or metallic are in vogue but when applying, start at the lash line and work upward toward the brow. Don’t be afraid to add some sparkle and style to your look! Deepening the shade along the lash line with chocolate browns and black really intensify your look and make those lashes pop.

Select a soft, velvety eye pencil rather than harsh liquids and blend with a small brush or a smudge tip applicator. This year, romance is prominent and perfect with Valentine’s Day coming up. Make sure your lashes are ready to flirt by applying layers and layers of glossy black mascara. Don’t let them clump though, brush them through with a lash brush so they remain long and sexy. Brows are important, tidy them up, lift and the elongate with a brow pencil, tapering out toward the temple.

Cheeks: – Soft pink and peachy hues are always flattering and work for most skin tones. Apply high above the cheek bone to the apples to create the illusion of an “instant lift”.

Lips: – Rich, buttery textures in nudes, rose and red tones nourish and gloss plumped up lips this season.

Velvety lip liners can add a layer of extra volume so use a series of feathering strokes outward to enhance the shape and shade. Take a lip brush and fill in the lip with a slightly lighter shade to add dimension. Choose formulas that offer long-lasting, high impact color that you can tuck neatly away into a cute glittery purse.
